65歲的著名電影攝影師杜可風（Christopher Doyle）剛推出新書《#之所以我不是畫家》和《#電影這回事》，並聯同kubrick ArtPick於MOViE MOViE Cityplaza戲院的house by kubrick舉行名為「之所以我不是畫家」的拼貼藝術展。昨日舉行新書發布會和講座，#文化者跟他聊過。
在講座中，他分享了過往拍攝電影的一些難忘經歷，還帶來一系列從未公映的短片，與一眾嘉賓和戲迷分享他的創意藝術觀。
「創作拼貼畫是把顏色、形狀和影像湊合起來，它讓我迎接不同的可能性，驚訝於紙塊一堆一疊而呈現給你我的靈感。」
這位王家衛御用攝影師說，創作拼貼藝術是他的減壓良方，這些作品取材於他日常生活中看到的相片、單張、雜誌和書藉裏的圖像，一如電影的蒙太奇手法，把一些本無相干的東西，重新拼合成有趣的意象。對他而言，創作拼貼與電影一樣，都是在漫長歲月中重整、改良和琢磨。透過觀賞杜氏作品，亦可一窺拼貼藝術與他的電影之間不可或缺的影響和關聯。
書中有趣的一幕，杜可風寫下他幻想中與美國獨立導演Jim Jarmusch的對話，非常具啟發性。「你的工作是要讓影像變得有觸感，當然不能真的觸摸到它，但我需要它能觸動我。」
天下無新事，杜可風說，畫面將許多直覺混合經驗，變成一款具表現力的雞尾酒。「材料未必是原創，但攪拌出來的將是獨一無二。」談到創意，杜可風認為：「創意是神秘的，難以逾越的深度，但一切又像已被安排。創意是抄襲不了，因為你自己的種子只會在你自己的花園茁壯成長。」
杜可風在書中也透露，在拍《阿飛正傳》前半部，他也受困於「電影」概念，因在怎樣塑造影像風格和光的理論當中，後來他意識到拍電影是對觀察和學習的無止境探索，「每分每秒都想跟人分享對事物的驚嘆。」
他又認為「電影包含了(創作人)一生的精力和洞見、渴求和情感，及殷切與人分享的慾望。」（The films included (filmmakers’) lifetime of energies and perceptions, needs and exuberance to share.）

Christopher Doyle’s Collage Art Exhibition
A collage art exhibition by cinematographer Christopher Doyle titled “Why I Am Not A Painter” opens April 28 at the house by kubrick, MOViE MOViE Cityplaza, Hong Kong. The exhibition features 12 of his newly created artworks and will be on display until May 25.
Co-organised by kubrick ArtPick, the exhibition showcases Chris’ artworks created in between the time he spent behind camera at film sets.
Collage art is the crossover of different objects and images. They remind Chris of who he is and what artistic creation means to him. “Collages are colours and forms and images thrown together to see what might become of them, to embrace their chance encounter, to be amused and surprised by the ideas a few bits of paper stuck together may reveal to me and you,” Chris once said.
To Chris, the way collage art brings new and interesting ideas is no different from making film montage. For those who enjoy Chris’ cinematography, the exhibition offers a chance to peek into Chris’ complete visual world.
